One machine, two lives. How a Nardo robot travels from the Milano design center to the crate.
Every Nardo machine lives twice. First as a drawing, a simulation and an argument between engineers in Milano. Then as metal, gaskets and firmware on the factory floor. The distance between those two lives is where most robotics companies lose either their quality or their sanity, so we designed the journey as carefully as the robot.
Design starts with recorded reality: sensor logs from working farms, ports and coastlines. Autonomy, perception and platform architecture are developed against that data and then proven on partner sites before a part is ever ordered. By the time a design freezes, it has already failed a hundred times in simulation and a few embarrassing times in a vineyard. That is the point.
Before production, every design goes through a manufacturability review with the people who will actually build it. Machinists flag tolerances that add cost without adding function. Assembly leads reject fasteners you cannot reach with a gloved hand. The pilot line builds the first units slowly, on purpose, and every friction point becomes a design change while changes are still cheap. Design and the floor trade the drawing back and forth until both sides stop complaining. Then, and only then, it becomes a part number.
On the line, each machine is assembled by a named team and walks a fixed gauntlet: torque verification, harness continuity, sensor calibration, drivetrain run-in, ingress test, and a full mission simulation before crating. Everything is recorded against the serial number, and the record follows the machine for life. When a unit comes back for service years later, the same floor that built it opens its file, and its history reads like a logbook, not a mystery.
