Stationary, mobile or marine: one factory, most applications

Our catalogue says agriculture and marine. Our factory says something broader: if it is a robot that has to survive the real world, we can build it.

From the outside, a bolted-down inspection cell, a field rover and a subsea crawler look like three different industries. From the factory floor, they are one product family wearing three outfits. Strip the wheels, tracks and thrusters away and you find the same skeleton: a machined structural core, sealed joints, a wiring harness built to survive vibration, motor drives, a sensor head and a compute module that has to stay cool and dry.

That is why our plant in Italy is organised around processes, not products. Machining, harness building, sealing and potting, drivetrain assembly, calibration, environmental test. Every machine we make flows through the same stations and earns the same quality record. The product changes; the discipline does not.

Stationary: robots that hold still and never stop

Fixed installations, inspection gantries, test rigs and manipulator cells, are the quiet half of robotics. They demand rigidity, repeatability and duty cycles measured in years. Our machining and calibration benches were specified for exactly that class of work, and a robot that never moves still gets the full salt-fog and ingress treatment if it will live near the coast or in a washdown environment.

Mobile: robots that carry their factory tolerances into the mud

TERRA is the reference platform here: independent drivetrains, field-swappable packs, a payload deck that accepts third-party implements. The hard part of a mobile robot is not making it move. It is making the four hundredth unit identical to the fourth, so that autonomy software written in Milano behaves the same on every chassis. That is a manufacturing problem, and it is the one we enjoy most.

Marine: robots where a single bad seal is the whole story

MARE taught us to treat water as the chief inspector. Marine-grade fasteners, sacrificial anodes, pressure-tested housings, connectors chosen for how they fail, every one of those lessons fed back into the rest of the line. A factory that can pass a subsea unit can pass anything, which is precisely why we built one that can.
